Methane Gas Reduction

Updated Sept 2025:

Sweden now leads the world in recycling by burning it’s garbage to produce energy and recycling the rest, so that less than 1% goes to landfills. Sweden is so efficient at it that they import other country’s waste, now, to recycle in addition to their own! No more atmospheric killing methane from new landfills.

Colorado is set to review new methane rules for the state’s landfills this August which will provide new laws to those who run the sites to address their methane emissions. Currently those landfills produce as much dirty air as driving 1 million cars for a year.

Syngas is made directly from the air, using sunlight as the power source.

New guidelines encourage widespread adoption of methane-reducing feed additives in dairy and livestock
Worldwide guidelines published for reducing methane from cows.

Feb 2025:

MethaneSat from the Environmental Defense Fund (Independent source) - find leaks from space. Launched in March 2024 and working now.

Jan 2025:
Prototype device produces critical fertilizer ingredient from thin air, cutting carbon emissions.

Onsite ammonia synthesis (a main fertilizer ingredient) using wind energy to draw air through a mesh, could eliminate the 100 year old process using NatGas and electricity to produce ammonia, now, for fertilizer production.

This is the Best short term solution to climate change - Methane mitigation. “Reducing Methane could almost immediately curb climate change”. Since CH4 is 80 times worse than CO2, my personal calculation is that CH4’s effects are equal to all the CO2 effects on our atmosphere. Go after methane, curb climate change.
